Certification Programs
We offer professional training and certification in the fields of Lean Six Sigma and Design for Lean Six Sigma. The following are certification programs administered by the Design for Lean team:

Lean Six Sigma White Belt
(Awareness) Training
This training teaches the Lean Six Sigma philosophy and how to apply it on the job on a day-to-day basis.
This 4 Hours course supports design & improvement project teams and leaders and is offered approximately every month.
Certification Requirements
- Completion of LSS Awareness Training
Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt
This training teaches the Lean Six Sigma philosophy and how to apply it on the job on a day-to-day basis and provides process owners and managers the skills to establish awareness of Lean Six Sigma process and perform qualitative evaluation and quick hit Improvements, measure processes against customer requirements, and supports Green Belt projects.
This 1 day course is offered approximately monthly
Certification Requirements
- Complete LSS Yellow Belt Training or equivalent
- Lead one Yellow Belt “Just Do It” project
- Provide documentation of project completion
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt
The Lean Six Sigma Black Belt offered Provides Belt candidates a combined classroom training with a hands-on project to complement the learning experience. Training is typically structured by three, one-week classroom sessions spaced at approximately four to six weeks intervals to provide time for participants to apply recently learned material to their approved project.
- The first week* covers the Define and Measure phases of the LSS curriculum
- The second week* covers the Analyze and Improve phases of the LSS curriculum
- The third week* covers the Control and Improve phases of the LSS curriculum

- Complete LSS Green Belt Training or equivalent and Pass Exam
- Lead one Green Belt project
- Provide documentation of project completion
Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt
The Lean Six Sigma Black Belt offered provides Black Belt candidates a combined classroom training with a hands-on project to complement the learning experience. Training is typically structured by additional training curriculum* on top of the Lean Six Sigma Green Belt training program. Additional training curriculums for the LSS Black Belt can range from one to two weeks of additional training that covers:
- Design of Experiments
- Acceptance Sampling
- Sample Size Determination
- Optimization “Response Surface Methodology”
- Validation Strategies

- Lead Two Black Belt projects
- Provide documentation of project completion
Design for Lean Certifications
DFLSS Green Belt
The Design for Lean Six Sigma Green Belt offered provides Belt candidates a combined classroom training with a hands-on project to complement the learning experience. Training is typically structured by additional training curriculum* on top of the Lean Six Sigma Green Belt training program. Additional training curriculums for the Design for LSS Green Belt can be covered in one week of training that covers:
- Voice of the Customer (Quality Function Deployment)
- Concept Development using Theory of Inventive Problem Solving
- Concept Selection Methods
- Introduction to Simulation and Risk Management
- Test Methods Development
- Multi-Objective Optimization overview

DFLSS Black Belt
The Design for Lean Six Sigma Black Belt offered provides Belt candidates a combined classroom training with a hands-on project to complement the learning experience. Training is typically structured by additional training curriculum* on top of the Design for Lean Six Sigma Green Belt training program. Additional training curriculums for the Design for LSS Black Belt can range from a one to two weeks of training that covers:
- Voice of the Customer (Quality Function Deployment)
- Mistake Proofing by Design
- Concept Development using Theory of Inventive Problem Solving (TRIZ)
- Concept Selection Methods
- Transfer Functions Development Methods
- Simulation and Risk Management
- Multi-Objective Optimization
- Control Planning
